Skull Moon Base

Hi, who starts a blog post with hello? I do things in my own way, all the time. I’m gonna combine three things and write about them. So there is a question that I need to answer right away: Why should you even read this? This blog post is about Artemis II, Grendizer, And my childhood all at the same time.

Grendizer is a UFO and a mecha at the same time. Duke Fleed is the pilot. UFO Robo Grendizer, 1975. It’s a classic anime. It was a popular anime in the late ’70s and early ’80s. In regions like the Middle East, France, Italy, and of course, Japan.

Btw, I was born in 2008, so how do I know about this anime? It’s my father’s favorite childhood cartoon. This anime was a big part of my childhood too. Thanks to my father, who shared his childhood with me (us). He watched this 74-episode anime for the first time when he was like 6 or 7, with his brothers. And I watched this anime for the first time when I was like 5 with my father and my siblings. Our first impression was not positive at all. what I remember is that we were saying things like “Eww, what the hell is this?” or something similar. We were 2000s kids and our favorites at that time were TMNT and Ben10, and not some old ’70s hand-drawn anime. But we grew into it pretty quickly.

If you know about this anime, you definitely know that Duke Fleed is an alien from a planet called Fleed. He is the prince of Fleed who escaped from the danger of the Vega Empire. (the only survivor)

He escaped to Earth and Dr. Umon found him and gave him a home and a new identity (Daisuke Umon). Basically, he adopted him. Dr. Umon had a space station called the Space Science Laboratory in Japan.

The whole story of this anime is not relevant to this post, to be honest. The Vega fleet came to capture Grendizer. The UFO mecha thing that was built by Fleed’s best engineers and their advanced knowledge So the Vega fleet was looking to capture and kill Duke and take control of Grendizer to continue their conquest. After about two years, they attacked Earth and found Grendizer and Duke on Earth. So they built a base, called “Skull Moon”, on the far side of the moon. Cool, hah.

Why? Because that side of the moon is not visible from Earth. You can never see it from Earth. They used a scientific fact in a sci-fi anime from ‘75 (I guess because of Apollo 17 and the moon landings, this kind of topic was popular back in the day). I learned this fact from watching this anime and from my father’s explanation.

So why am I talking about this now? It’s all because of Artemis II. We traveled to the moon for the second time after many years and we are preparing for Artemis III, and Artemis IV will land on the moon again by 2028.

In Artemis II, they took nearly 12,000 images of Earth and the moon, mostly the moon, and the far side of the moon, which I like to call the hidden side of the moon. It’s interesting that I learned about this fact all because of my father and an anime called Grendizer. Even when I showed him the new images of the far side of the moon, he immediately mentioned the alien Vega base on the moon (Skull Moon Base). There are a lot of cool pictures of the moon, especially of the interesting far side . But in my strong opinion, Earth looks 100% better. The moon is ugly, to be honest.

This was my first time writing something that others may read. And I actually think this is the best topic for my first ever blog that could have come to me. Months ago, I told myself that i needed to start writing. There was nothing to write about, but it was going come by itself, and it did. It’s a little bit late, and Artemis II mission is old news now. But what can be done? When NASA started and finished the mission, I had no internet connection. And today is the day that this could be posted. It’s late and there is nothing that i can do about it, but it wasn’t my fault. Btw, thanks for reading this post.
